March 20 Announcements

 Applications to join next year’s yearbook staff are now available from your counselor. The yearbook staff is looking for new additions who thrive in an independent and deadline-based work environment and are looking for an opportunity to use their creativity to design, write, and photograph a year in the school’s history! Questions about whether you would be a good fit for this job? Talk to Mrs. Gilbert in room 184.

 The bands and orchestras are performing a variety of music from movies tonight at 7:00 in the auditorium. Admission is $5 for non-performers. There will also be a dinner hosted by the music students at 5:30 in the cafeteria prior to the concert. Tickets for both the dinner and concert combined are $8. It should be an enjoyable evening with memorable music! See a band or orchestra student, Dr. Bazan or Mrs. Wilson for tickets, or purchase at the event.

 Seniors! Don’t forget to nominate individuals for graduation class and staff speaker. Your teachers have the urls and there are fliers located in the senior hall. You have until 2:00 pm on Thursday, March 22 to submit your nominations.

 The annual Bartlett Mathematics Invitational Competition is this Friday, March 23rd. Check-in is 2:00-2:50 at Bartlett High School at Main Place. Refreshments served following the contest! All students in Geometry or higher are eligible to compete. 30 minutes – 6 questions – no calculators. See your math teacher for more details and to sign up. The Chugiak Math Department wants to bring the trophy back to Chugiak. We need your help and support, math geeks!! GO CHUGIAK!!

 Mustangs! It’s time to get ready for the CHS Talent Show! Talk to your friends and get your act together! Auditions will be held on Monday, March 26. Auditions will be held right after school in the auditorium. We are looking for singers, actors, jugglers, dancers, comedians, musicians, and anything else you can think of to display your talents! The show itself is from 7-9pm on Friday, April 6, 2018.

 A 6 week after-school construction class for a 1/2 science or elective credit is being offered for Chugiak High School students March 26 – May 11, following spring break. It will be from 3 – 5:30 pm at Gruening Middle School. See your counselor for more information.

 Looking for a prom dress at a great price, the Alaska Moving Arts Center has over 150 stylish and colorful dresses for a great price. Come by this Sunday, March 25th from 10 to 6 to browse and try one on.

 Also, Beautiful prom wear is available for free in the Library Meeting Room. Men’s and women’s apparel and shoes. Free to a good home.

 FCCLA is meeting today and tomorrow after school from 2-4:30 to prepare for State Competition.
