Normal Bell Schedule.

  • Attention to 9th, 10th and 11th-grade football players: There is a MANDATORY meeting today, 10:30, in the Band Room.  Coach Landers will be here to talk to you all.
  • Senior Photos and Quotes are due Monday. If you do not submit a photo by this deadline, we will use your school photo. Submit photos and quotes to chsyearbookseniorsubmit@gmail.com.
  • Winter Spirit Week is December 10-14!  Please see the fliers posted in classrooms for more information.  Remember that your spirit day attire must be appropriate.  If you have any questions about your outfits, please see one of our principals for clarification.
  • Seniors: Last day to buy a senior class sweatshirt is December 14. Buy now at the ramp at lunch for $30 or see Ms. Lierman in room 75.

November is Alaska Native American Indian Heritage Month

  • Alaskans are proud to honor Willie Hensley as a semi-retired politician and government official here in Alaska. He is currently a visiting faculty member at the University of Alaska Anchorage, in addition to being a writer and lecturer. Hensley is a former member of Alaska House of Representatives and Alaska Senate,  In addition to running for and serving in electoral office, he has spent much of his life as an advocate for Alaska Native rights.

  • Mustangs:This year you have the opportunity to vote for your 2019 WACKO Theme!  Log into your ASD Google Drive account then go to tinyurl.com/WACKOTheme19 and vote!  Voting closes today at 2 pm.
  • Do you want the world to end in 2030? Are you tired of ingesting micro plastics in your water? Yeah, me too. Come support TEA Club, and your health, by drinking and spilling tea with friends at TEA Club’s annual tea party, TEA for Seas. Tea party is tomorrow in room 207/208 at lunch. Cost is $3 this week at the top of the ramp and $5 at the door. Price includes hot beverage and an assortment of treats.

November is Alaska Native American Indian Heritage Month

  • Alaskans are proud to honor Martin Sensmeier as an actor and is of Tlingit, Koyukon-Athabascan, and Irish descent. He was raised in Yakutat, Alaska and grew up learning and participating in the traditions of his tribes. He is also an ambassador for The Native Wellness Institute, as well as the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and advocates for wellness among Native people of all Nations- focusing largely on youth.  His movie credits include Wind River, The Magnificent Seven and Westworld the TV Series.

November is Alaska Native American Indian Heritage Month

  • Alaskans are proud to honor Blackfeet warrior, Elouise Cobell.  Elouise Cobell, from Montana, filed the largest class action lawsuit ever filed against the federal government. For fifteen years, and through three Presidential administrations, Elouise Cobell never quit. This challenged the United States’ mismanagement of trust funds belonging to more than 500,000 individual Native Americans.  The winning settlement is the largest ever in a class action against the federal government.  Cobell was honored with many awards; among them are an education scholarship in her name, the MacArthur Fellowship and a posthumous Presidential Medal of Freedom.

November is Alaska Native American Indian Heritage Month

  • Alaskans are proud to honor Alaska Native, John Baker, 2011’s Iditarod Winner –Baker became only the second Native Alaskan to win the race and the first ever Eskimo since the 1,150-mile Anchorage-to-Nome race began in 1973.  Baker completed the race in eight days, 19 hours and 46 minutes, 3 hours earlier than the previous record!

  • There will be several midshipmen visiting the NJROTC classroom They will be talking about their experiences at the Naval Academy and answering any questions the cadets may have during periods 1-5.  If any students are interested in attending the Naval Academy or just want to learn more about how the service academies, they are most welcome to attend one of these sessions, or join us for informal discussion during the lunch period.
  • GSA will be meeting in room 194 today. Please join us to plan for the holidays!!
  • The first Spirit Club meeting is today during lunch in room 205/207. Spirit Club is a way to meet new people and boost school spirit. We hope to see you there.
