February 5 Announcements

 It is National Counseling Week! All week we will be saying thank you in appreciation of our wonderful counselors! Please stop in and say thank you to your counselor! Thank you Mrs. Moffett, Mrs. Volden, Mrs. Fullmer and Mr. Wartman, for all you do for the students of CHS! Did you know: Counselors can see the future?

 The AMC National Math Competition is this WED, Feb. 7th during periods 2 and 3. For those invited to participate be sure to make it to rooms 207/208 quickly to get signed in and started. This is a timed competition. Bring a pencil but leave your calculator in your locker.

 Battle of the Bands is this Friday! Student bands from Rock to Alternative will be performing on the Chugiak Auditorium Stage on Friday, February 9. Tickets on sale for $5 Tuesday through Friday in the Library.

 Homework Help is back! NHS will be holding homework help for those students who are struggling in one or more of their classes on Monday mornings in the Library. We will be available 7:15-8:00 every Monday morning. Help is available in all subjects! Just make sure to be in the library on Late Start Monday mornings!

Interact is a service club filled with individuals interested in creating a giving and prospering community. Interact will look great on a resume’ and is a great way to become involved! The first meeting is today at lunch in Ms. Armstrong’s room #2. If you have any questions feel free to ask Eva Palmer or Mrs. Moffett. We’d love to have you!

If you did not get an invitation letter and feel you should have, please see Mrs. Templeton in Room 12 or Mrs. Shillington in Room 203 ASAP.

 Chugiak NJROTC Yearly Area Managers Inspection (AMI) rehearsal will be on March 5th during periods 4, 5, and 6 . Chugiak AMI will be on March 6th during periods 1, 2, and 3.

January 31 Announcements

 A hearty Mustang family shout-out to Ethan Moncur and Christian Cambridge who are participating tonight in the district level Poetry Out Loud recitation contest being held in the auditorium of the Loussac Library. The recitation contest begins at 5:00 p.m. and we’d love to have a crowd of Mustangs there to snap these guys to the state Poetry Out Loud recitation competition in Juneau. If these two young men make it to state and win that competition in March then they will advance to the national competition being held in Washington D.C. this April.  We are very proud of these fine young men!!!

 A reminder that the Sadie Hawkins dance that was scheduled for tonight has been cancelled. If you purchased a ticket, please see the Activities Office for a refund!

 There is an NHS meeting today during lunch in Room 4. All meetings are mandatory. Please see Ms. Smith, Mrs. Logan, or an officer if you are unable to attend.

 REMINDER – – Get Your HOT Mocha/Latte Monday thru Thursday at Stompin Grounds, down in the cafeteria. Available in the mornings at 6:45 and at Lunch Time.

 Do you need another Elective credit? There is still time to register to learn to cook afterschool. This class will cover food from all over the world and we have an awesome opportunity to create an entire Cajun meal with a $1200 budget. See your counselor or Mrs. Ditzler for details. Class will begin as soon as we have enough students enrolled. Students enrolled in the class will determine the meeting times.
